Go-Go 301
Since April 2012 we are offering artists a two week residency (301 hours) in our space. For this project AWA focuses on international, independent, self-sufficient artists who are interested to work intensively in Amsterdam for 2 weeks and present their work at the end of the work period. Since the building is a very lively place it’s important the artist is open and communicative. During the weekend there are often performances, bands and parties in the big studios of the OT301 building, this can be quite noisy but also very interesting. So if the resident is looking for a quiet hide away, the Go-Go 301 residency might not be what they are looking for, but if they are looking to find open, interesting, vibrant people this is the place to be. Wether you make new work or continue on working on a work in progress. Our aim is to let international and national artist meet and explore and or discuss each others work. We will provide a dinner where you can meet some other artists as wel as a vernis- and finis-sage where you can show your work/work on the last friday of your stay.
About the gallery/studio
Our gallery/studio is based at OT301 in Amsterdam. The size of our gallery is 5,20 by 7,75 metres. OT301 used to be a squat in the Dutch city of Amsterdam which is located on Overtoom 301. EHBK has now bought the building which is used as a multi-media alternative cultural centre. The building is an old film academy and was squatted in 1999 by a group of artists. It is used in a range of ways, including as a venue for music and films, artists workspaces, a bookshop and an 'organic cultural kitchen' (a vegan restaurant) called De Peper. OT301 received the Amsterdamprijs voor de Kunsten from the Amsterdam Fonds voor de Kunst from Amsterdam.
Costs
Artists are expected to pay for their own travel to the AWAgallery in Amsterdam. Food and materials are also the responsibility of the visiting artists.
Accommodation costs 350 euro’s plus 50 euro's deposit. These 400 euro's will be paid by the artist upon arrival in Amsterdam. The extra 50 euros deposit will be returned to the artist if at the end of the residency period nothing is damaged, and the accommodation is left in good order.
